Korean-Canadian cellist Katie Youn has a diverse career as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher. Ms. Youn has appeared in concerts throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, Korea and Japan, in venues such as Symphony Hall and Jordan Hall in Boston, Suntory and Minatomirai Hall of Japan, Orpheum Hall in Canada and St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Ms. Youn has held positions as cello instructor and chamber coach at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts and was a founding faculty for Boston String Project, the string program at the Salvation Army Kroc Center of Boston. During the summer, Ms. Youn has been on the cello and chamber music faculty at Belvoir Terrace Performing Arts and most recently was the assistant for the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) String Quartet Workshop. Youn has newly been appointed as cello faculty at the Encore Music Academy and Jou Music Institute. Ms. Youn has appeared with Chamber Music Silicon Valley and next season highlights include performances with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Sonnet Ensemble, among others. Ms. Youn received Bachelor and Master of Music at the New England Conservatory and graduated Boston University with Doctor of Musical Arts.
